UN World Cleanup Day – Thank You to Everyone Who Helped Make It a Success!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part in UN World Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 20th! The Gastown Residents Association (GRA) was honoured to be a host partner for this global initiative, proudly coordinated locally by the Gastown / Hastings Crossing Community Policing Centre (GHX CPC).

Our GRA team focused on cleaning up areas around Water Street and Crab Park working to make our communities cleaner, safer, and more connected. Volunteers gathered at the Woodwards Atrium for morning coffee, snacks, and an enthusiastic send-off before spreading out across Gastown, Railtown, and parts of the DTES.

Special thanks to all our amazing partners:

  • Gastown / Hastings Crossing Community Policing Centre (GHX CPC) – lead coordinator
  • Vancouver Police Department (VPD) and the police officers who volunteered alongside community members
  • MLA Terry Yung – for continued community support
  • Residents and volunteers who showed up with energy and commitment
  • GRA members who represented our neighbourhood with pride
  • And all additional community partners and support organisations who helped make this day possible!

This was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together. Let’s keep the momentum going!
