CPC GHC opening

Gastown-Hastings Crossing Community Policing Centre Opens: A New Era for Community Safety

The Gastown Residents Association is excited to announce the grand opening of the Gastown-Hastings Crossing Community Policing Centre (GHXCPC) on July 16, 2025.

Since it’s outset, the GRA has campaigned for a safer, cleaner, and more livable Gastown for everyone. This vital policing initiative quickly gained support from Mayor Ken Sim and Vancouver City Council, a collaboration which clearly shows what is possible when residents and leaders work together!

As Mike Howell reported in Vancouver mayor wins council support for Gastown community policing centre on October 28, 2024, Mayor Ken Sim stated “This may not be a silver bullet — but it’s a step in the right direction, and we fully support it.”

The GHX CPC facility, located at 109 W. Hastings Street, will support community safety through programs like volunteer foot patrols acting as extra “eyes and ears” to report concerns and connect with locals. Other programs will also address issues like discarded needles, graffiti, and suspicious activity. You can learn more about these programs on the GHXCPC website.

The Gastown Residents Association extends sincere thanks to Mayor Ken Sim, Vancouver City Council, the Vancouver Police Department, and our MLA Terry Jung. We are also grateful for the support from numerous community organizations and dedicated volunteers who helped make this policing centre a reality.
